On August 7, 2022, local time, the signing ceremony for the handover of the 8th Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge Project, which was managed by China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute Co,.Ltd , was held in Bangladesh, marking the formal handover of the project to Bangladesh.

The 8th Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge is the eighth bridge aided by the government of China to Bangladesh. It is the largest bridge project aided by China to Bangladesh so far. It is located in an important transportation hub in southwestern Bangladesh, with a total length of 2.96 kilometers, of which the bridge is 1.493 kilometers long.

The completion and opening of the Eighth Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge will significantly improve local land transportation, promote regional connectivity and economic and social development, and is also of great significance to further deepen and inherit the friendship between China and Bangladesh.
