Independently developed by China Railway Hi-Tech Industry Co., Ltd, China’s first power distributed new energy electric locomotive was released in Chongqing Municipality on July 7. The locomotive has been officially put into use for the building of Chongqing Rail Transit Line 15.

　　Electric locomotives are important tools for transporting materials, including muck, mortar, and segments, in shield tunneling. Traditional electric locomotives have problems such as high counterweight, heavy axle loads, and insufficient climbing ability due to the centralized arrangement of the entire marshalling power mechanism at the front of the locomotive.

　　Drawing on the technology of bullet trains, China Railway Hi-Tech Industry has developed a power distributed new energy electric locomotive and its supporting equipment by adopting technologies such as power distributed drive and multi-motor synchronous control. Compared with the traditional electric locomotive, this new vehicle can improve the tractive force by more than 50%, save power and energy consumption by more than 20% and have a climbing capacity of 70‰ on the premise of not increasing the axle weight of the locomotive.
