On July 31st, 2020, the American magazine Engineering News-Record (ENR) announced the 2020 Global Best Projects winners, and the New Shougang Bridge in Beijing, built by China Railway Baoji Bridge Group Co., Ltd. under China Railway Hi-Tech Industry Co., Ltd. (CRHIC), won the ENR Award of Merit in Bridge/Tunnel category.
The New Shougang Bridge spans over the Yongding River and links Shijingshan District with Mentougou District in Beijing. At the time of its construction, it was the only double-tower cable-stayed steel composite bridge in the world. Now a landmark in western Beijing, it serves as a fast passage linking the city proper and western suburban areas.
