On May 16 local time, the tailing digging project for a niobium ore mine contracted by China Railway No.8 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. started in Brazil.

　　Located in the molybdenum niobium mining area in Ouvidor, Goias state in central Brazil, the project is around 30 kilometers from Catalao where the company is based. In carrying out the project, China Railway No.8 Engineering Group will de-water the tailings of No.2 mine, level the ground and cover the land surface with red soil. It will also build sewerage for the refuse dump and the land surface. The project is expected to be finished in two years, including rainy seasons. When it is completed, the mining slag will be properly dealt with. With the surface covered with red soil, the tailings will generate minimized adverse impacts on local ecology, so that forests can be restored in the mining region.
