Mr. LI Changjin, Chairman of China Railway Group Limited (hereinafter abbreviated as CREC), met with Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela at the Panamanian Presidential Palace on December 4th, 2018. They had an in-depth communication on strengthening the cooperation of infrastructure projects in Panama and reached broad consensus.

Mr. LI introduced the profile, business situation and technical advantages of CREC. He expressed the Company’s confidence in building quality projects and willingness to further deepen its involvement in Panamanian infrastructure construction.

President Barrera said that Panama has a Golden Waterway connecting the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean, i.e., the Panama Canal. Now the country has developed into a worldwide financial center with significant advantages in free circulation of USD, convenient offshore business and preferential tax policy. He pointed out that infrastructure such as railways, municipal facilities and bridges, is vital to the economic and social development of Panama. He warmly welcomes and supports competent and responsible enterprises like CREC to cooperate with Panamanian government as well as companies on infrastructure construction and achieve mutual benefits.

Chairman Li and Robert Roy, Minister of Panama Canal Business as well as President of Panama Metro Company, exchanged profound views and reached extensive consensus on potential cooperation projects.

During the visit, Mr. LI attended the China-Panama business meeting co-hosted by Chinese President XI Jinping and Panamanian President Barrera. He also participated in the China (Panama) brand exhibition and inspected CREC projects in Panama.
