Anthem of CREC—“Trailbreaker”
Construction of the Hungarian section of the Hungarian-Serbian Railway, a key project of the Belt and Road Initiative, has started and progressed as planned. Employees of China Railway No.9 Group, China Railway Electrification Engineering Group and other construction organizations have taken various measures to overcome the impact of COVID-19 pandemic to coordinate resources and organize on-site surveys, archaeological investigation, explosive removal, tree cleaning along the line, and equipment removal, providing conditions for the follow-up construction of railway subgrade, culvert and electricity-related projects.

Cushioned construction.
To ensure all-round advance of the subgrade engineering project of the line, the professional operation team of China Railway No.9 Group conducted archaeological survey on the right side of the section from Kunszentmiklós to Tass Station and to Bostel Station. The team has completed 20 on-site surveys, and found 45 archaeological features, which were handed over to the local museum for archaeological research. The explosive disposal in the range of Kiskunfélegyháza Station, Domsod Station and the section from Kunszentmiklós to Tass Station was started on schedule, and the detection and disposal of explosives was completed for 51 kilometers in the area. Trees have been cleared along 5.5 kilometers of existing railway lines. The excavation and inspection of communication cables for certain stations and the installation of signal boards at section crossings were completed.

On-site explosive disposal operation.
The Hungarian-Serbian Railway is China’s first high-speed railway project invested overseas in Europe, with a total length of 350 kilometers and a designed speed of 200 km/h. After the whole line is opened to traffic, a trip from Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, to Budapest, the capital of Hungary, will take less than three hours, which will greatly facilitate the economic and trade cooperation and exchanges between the two countries and in the region.
