The first phase of the construction for the Songshan Lake Waterworks, a Dongguan-based supportive project for a water diversion project in the Pearl River Delta region, started on February 11, together with other major projects for the first quarter of 2022 in Dongguan, Guangdong Province. The waterworks was constructed by the fifth branch of the China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group Co., Ltd.

　　Located in Jinduogang of the Songshan Lake region, the first phase of the waterworks will adopt a water treatment procedure integrating pretreatment, conventional treatment, treatment with ozone activated carbon, membrane treatment and disinfection. The designed daily output of the waterworks is 1.1 million cubic meters, making it the largest single water plant in Asia. When it is completed, the waterworks will deliver higher-quality drinking water to residents in the eight neighboring communities, and mitigate the adverse influence of upstream salt tide on the drinking water in Dongguan, making it a project of great significance to water safety.
