Anthem of CREC—“Trailbreaker”
On January 6, the first bullet train custom-made for the Beijing Olympic Winter Games featuring a live broadcast studio that could transmit ultra-high-definition content via 5G connections departed the Qinghe Station for the Chongli Station on the Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-speed Railway. It was the train’s first journey to the Zhangjiakou competition zone of the Winter Olympics, marking that the railway section between the Taizicheng Station and the Chongli Station, designed by China Railway Engineering Consulting Group, officially opened to traffic.

The Taizicheng-Chongli railway section is located in the Chongli District of Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. It starts at the Taizicheng Station in the core area of the Olympic Village, and ends at the Chongli Station. The railway section is the only railway transport line connecting the core venue of the Beijing Winter Olympics and downtown Chongli. With a total length of 15.864 kilometers, the section comprises 242 meters of bridges and 14.434 kilometers of tunnels, registering a bridge/tunnel ratio of 92.52 percent. It has a designed speed of 160 km/h.

An important infrastructure project of the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games, the Taizicheng-Chongli railway shortens the travel time between the two ends to around 10 minutes. It took only about one hour for Beijing citizens to arrive at Chongli Station from the Beijing North Railway Station.
The line connects the three major competition zones in Beijing, Yanqing and Chongli. According to the railway roadmap for the Winter Games, it took 26 minutes, 50 minutes and 65 minutes from the Qinghe Station to Yanqing Station, Taizicheng Station and Chongli Station respectively.
As an extension part of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-speed Railway and the Chongli railway, the Taizicheng-Chongli section is equipped with multiple intelligent technologies and design, including the high-speed railway automated driving technology (CTCS+ATO), intelligent centralized system of high-speed railway dispatching (intelligent CTC), the intelligent management platform of tourism services, the human-face-recognition-based real-name verification system and the intelligent power system. The state-of-the-art technologies would play a critical role in building an intelligent Taizicheng-Chongli railway.
