At China Quality Award Presentation Ceremony held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, on September 16, China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd. (CREG) under China Railway Hi-tech Industry Corporation Limited won a China Quality Award, the highest honor in the country’s quality field, for its “concentric circles” management model. This is also the first time for a tunnel boring machine (TBM) company to receive the award.

Over the years, CREG has developed a series of innovative products including the world’s first horseshoe-shaped shield machine, the world’s largest cross-section rectangular shield machine, the world’s largest diameter hard rock TBM. It has received orders for more than 1,300 shield machines, of which some 1,000 have been delivered, and achieved safe operation of TBMs totaling more than 2,600 kilometers in mileage not only at home but in 26 countries and regions including France, Italy, Denmark and Austria, providing Chinese equipment, Chinese solutions and Chinese wisdom for tunnel construction worldwide.

Established in 2012, China Quality Award is the highest honor in China’s quality field which aims to recognize organizations that have made significant innovative achievements in the field of quality management models, management methods and management systems as well as individuals who have made outstanding contributions to promoting innovation in quality management theories, methods and measures, establish quality benchmarks, and promote scientific quality management methods to continuously improve the quality level in China.
