The groundbreaking ceremony of the China-aided Foreign Service Academy in Sierra Leone was recently held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sierra Leone. Around 300 attendees including President Bio, Chief Minister David J. Francis, the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone Hu Zhangliang, Economic and Commercial Counselor Du Zijun, ambassadors of other countries to Sierra Leone and representatives of China Railway Seventh Group participated in the ceremony.  

President Bio delivered a speech at the ceremony. He expressed heartfelt thanks to the assistance of the Chinese government and people, highly appraised the management and construction of China Railway Seventh Group and wished the construction of the academy a great success.

The Foreign Service Academy is located in central Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone, and is close to the State House, the parliament and other important locations. The academy’s main building has four floors above ground and one underground, with a total land area of 3,928 square meters and a construction period of 15 months.
