Anthem of CREC—“Trailbreaker”
The Affiniam Dam Rehabilitation project, for which China provided follow-up assistance, was handed over to Senegal’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Equipment on December 18 local time after it was completed by China Railway No.8 Engineering Group Co., Ltd.

The Affiniam Dam was built in 1984 based on free assistance from the Chinese government. After decades of weathering, the part of the dam exposed to seawater had been eroded, resulting in deteriorating in functionality and reliability. In 2019, the Chinese government started follow-up assistance and the China Railway No.8 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. undertook the mission of rehabilitating the dam.
Now, the dam restores water storage, and the shipping lane has been tested. It is ready for navigation and farm irrigation.
