    Two Ultra-large Diameter Dual-mode Shield Machines are Offline

    It is China's first super-large diameter TBM/slurry shield machine to excavate the Guifengshan Tunnel of the Zhuhai-Zhaoqing High-speed Railway.

    On March 27 and 29, the super-large diameter earth pressure/TBM dual-mode shield machine "Yongan" and TBM/slurry dual-mode shield machine "Huatong Fenjin" jointly developed by China Railway Engineering Equipment Group and other units under China Railway Hi-Tech Industry were launched in Shunde and Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, respectively, and will be used for the construction of Guifengshan Tunnel in Jiangji Section of Zhuzhao High-speed Railway, a key project in Dawan District of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

    "China Tunnel Endeavour" is China's first super-large diameter TBM/slurry dual-mode shield machine. It is another innovative breakthrough in tunneling shield construction under different complex geological conditions and provides new equipment for tunnel construction in China.

    "Yongan" is jointly developed by China Railway Tunnel Group and China Railway Engineering Equipment Group, with an excavation diameter of 14.29 meters, a total length of 117 meters, a total weight of about 4250 tons, and a total length of 3.96 kilometers to be excavated. It puts forward strict requirements for equipment performance and surface settlement control. The research and development team fully predicted the risk problems, carried out many targeted designs for the "Yongan" equipment, combined with the characteristics of complex strata along the line, equipped with eight main beam panel cutter heads, improved the impact resistance and wear resistance of the cutters, and provided a strong guarantee for the safe and efficient construction of the tunnel.

    The Zhuhai-Zhaoqing high-speed railway is located in Guangdong Province, with a total length of 98.6 kilometers, which is the first high-speed railway invested in and managed by the local government at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. Guifengshan Tunnel, with a total length of 15.155 kilometers, is the control project of the Zhuzhao High-speed Railway.
